My current job is at an anime-styled avatar-based virtual social network company and we're currently running a drawing contest. Of course, being an employee, I can't win, but I decided to draw something anyway. I chose to draw an avatar as he was dressed during a site-wide ninja-themed event we were running a couple weeks previous.
I think that it really came out well. I practiced a couple of times before doing the real thing (and I'm really glad I did - for instance, I think that I really captured the sense of his right hand in the practices, which I think shows in this final one). The time I've taken during those weekly Sunday drawing sessions to control the pencil and really make sure I know how shadows fall and all that stuff seems to have paid off, I think. That and the commitment to actually see a drawing through to the end.
Comments and Critiques welcome, of course.
